JEE Main Exam Pattern for 2024

JEE Main 2024 has introduced some exam pattern changes. Here is exam pattern for JEE Main 2024

1.Computer-based test mode
2. Exam Duration will be 3 hours
3. There will be Three Papers
4. Paper 1 will be for B.Tech, Paper 2 for B.Arch and Paper 3 will be for B.Plan
5. The Question Paper has been divided into two sections.
There will be 90 Questions in the Paper 1 and candidate will be required to attempt 75 questions only. There will be no negative marking for 15 optional questions

Paper 1

  • Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Total number of questions will 90 (Each subject will have 30 questions)
  • Each Subject will have two sections
  • Section A contains 20 Objective questions having 4 options each with only 1 correct option and Section B contains 10 Numerical questions with numerical value as answer. You have to answer only 5 questions
  • For MCQs – 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 1 Mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer
  • For answer with numeric value – 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 0 Mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • Maximum Marks is 300

Paper 2A

  • Mathematics, Aptitude & Drawing
  • Math’s will have 20 MCQ questions and 10 numerical questions. You need to answer only 5 out of 10 numerical questions. Aptitude will have 50 MCQs and drawing test will have 2 questions
  • For MCQs – 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 1 Mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer
  • For answer with numeric value – 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 0 Mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer
  • Drawing questions will be 100 marks
  • Maximum Marks is 400

Paper 2B

  • Mathematics, Aptitude & Planning
  • Math’s will have 20 MCQ questions and 10 numerical questions. You need to answer only 5 out of 10 numerical questions.; Aptitude will have 50 MCQs and Planning section will have 25 questions.
  • For MCQs – 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 1 Mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer
  • For answer with numeric value – 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 0 Mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer
  • Maximum Marks is 400

Important Note:
(a) For Multiple Choice Questions: To answer a question, the candidates need to choose one option corresponding to the correct answer or the most appropriate answer. However, if any anomaly or discrepancy is found after the process of challenges of the key verification, it shall be addressed in the following manner:
(i) Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Four marks (+4)
(ii) Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
(iii) Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
(iv) If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
(v) If all options are found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
(vi) If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped then full marks will be awarded to all candidates who have appeared
irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.
(b) For Numerical Value Questions:
There will be negative marking for Section B. However, if any anomaly or discrepancy is found after the process of challenges of the key verification, it shall be addressed in the following manner:
i. Correct Answer: Four marks (+4)
ii. Incorrect Answer: Minus one mark (-1)
iii. Unanswered/Marked for Review: No mark (0).
iv. If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due
to human error or technical error.
v. Candidates are advised to do the calculations with the constants given (if any) in the questions. The answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.
