Formula used
$speed=\frac {distance}{time}$

## What is Speed?

Speed is defined as the rate of change in distance with respect to time. It is a scalar quantity. Only magnitude is required to define the speed. SI unit of Speed is m/s
Average speed is defined as
$s= \frac {\text{distance}}{\text{time}}$
or
$s= \frac {d}{t}$
Where
s -> Average Speed
d -> Distance travelled
t -> time taken
This is called speed distance time formula.
Some Important Unit conversions
1 Km = 1000 m
1 hour= 60 min = 3600 sec
1 km/hr = 5/8 m/s

Example of Few questions where you can use this speed distance time Calculator
Question 1
A Body travels a distance 60 km in 2 hour.Find the Speed of the body in m/s
Solution
Given d = 60 km = 60000 m, t= 2 hour =7200 sec, s=?
Now Speed is given by the formula
$s= \frac {d}{t}$
$s = \frac { 60000}{7200}= 8.33 \ m/s$

Question 2
A object travels a distance 1000 m with the speed 50m/s . Find the time taken by the object.
Solution
Given d = 1000 m , t=?, s=50 m/s
Now Speed is given by the formula
$s= \frac {d}{t}$
Rearranging this for time
$t = \frac {d}{s}$
$t = \frac { 1000}{50} = 20 \ s$

Question 3
A object moves with the speed 50m/s for 10 min. Find the distance travelled by the body.
Solution
Given d = ? , t=10 min = 600 sec, s=50 m/s
Now Speed is given by the formula
$s= \frac {d}{t}$
Rearranging this for distance
$d = s \times t$
$d = 50 \times 600 = 30000 \ m=30 \ km$

## How the Speed distance time Calculator works

1. If distance and time given
$s =\frac {d}{t}$
2. If distance and speed are given
$t= \frac {d}{s}$
3. If time and speed are given
$d = s \times t$
