Formula used
$\rho=\frac {m}{V}$

What is Density

• Density is an important property of any material. Density is defined as mass per unit volume. We use Greek letter $\rho$ (rho) for density.
• if m is the mass of homogeneous material of volume V then. The density $\rho$ would be given by $\rho = \frac {mass}{Volume} = \frac {m}{v}$
• Density is a positive scalar quantity
• SI unit of Density is $Kg/m^3$. CGS unit of density is $g/cm^3$
Some Unit conversions
$1 \ m^3 = 10^3 \ L$
$1 \ m^3 = 10^6 \ cm^3$
$1 \ L= 10^3 \ cm^3$
Example of Few questions where you can use this Density Calculator
Question 1
A Body of mass 4 kg have volume $10 m^3$.Find the Density ?
Given , m= 4 kg, V=$10 m^3$, $\rho$ =?
Density is given by
$\rho = \frac {mass}{Volume} = \frac {m}{V}$
$\rho = \frac {4}{10} =.4 \ Kg/m^3$

Question 2
A object has density as $10 \ kg/m^3$. The volume is $3 \ m^3$. Find the mass of the body.
Given , m= ?, V=$3 m^3$, $\rho=10 \ kg/m^3$
Density is given by
$\rho = \frac {mass}{Volume} = \frac {m}{V}$
Rearranging this $m = \rho \times V = 10 \times 3 = 30 \ kg$
Question 3
A object has density as $20 \ kg/m^3$. The mass is 2 kg. Find the Volume.
Given , m= 2 kg, V=?, $\rho=20 \ kg/m^3$
Density is given by
$\rho = \frac {mass}{Volume} = \frac {m}{V}$
Rearranging this $V = \frac {m}{\rho} = \frac {2}{20} = .1 \ m^3$

How the Density Calculator works

1. If mass and volume given
$\rho =\frac {m}{V}$
2. If mass and density are given
$V= \frac {m}{ \rho}$
3. If volume and density are given
$m = \rho \times V$
